our first meeting

Our first Daisy meeting was last Wednesday and went pretty well for a first meeting. The craft that I chose took a little more time than I had anticipated -- thank you so much to Rhoda & Angela for helping out during the meeting, could not have accomplished all of that without you!

During our meeting we discussed why we start and end our meetings in circles and we did some introductions. We also said the Girl Scout Promise and Law -- once the girls know the Promise they will earn the center to their Daisy. I also gave each of the girls a "Good Deed Daisy" and we discussed what good deeds are. The girls were told to do good deeds until our next meeting and have someone write the good deeds on the petals of their daisy. This goes towards earning the Friendly & Helpful petal. I hope the girls had a lot of fun doing this...Samantha had SO much fun and had hers filled up within the first two days and we are not working on the back. I think I will have the girls do the good deed daisy every meeting...it might help get their rooms cleaned!!

Our activity -- for the activity each girl had a bag with foam beads that had the first initial of their first name on it. The point of the activity was to go to each girl, ask eachother a question and exchange a foam bead. In the end each girl should have ended up with all of her Daisy friend's initials on her necklace...this was a little bit confusing and didn't quite work out as planned. Due to time issues we sent the necklaces home for the girls to string the beads on there.

Our next meeting is the 28th and we will be doing some Halloween crafts! Should be a fun, less stressful activity.

I hope all of the girls had fun, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns!
